Happy Cinco de Mayo! I am so happy that you stopped by my all new, updated, and rebranded Blog, My Mom Made That. After months of debate, and the realization that my primary focus of the blog wasn’t really life in a binuclear/blended family, I decided to go forth with a rechristening of my creative space. The Big One, my 11-year-old came up with the blog name, after showing some of my creative projects off to his friends. He had such pride when he said, My Mom Made That! Given how little my tween seems to appreciate me these days (please tell me that it does get better, right?!), I thought it was an apt name for the blog. I was talking about the new name, and my idea of rebranding to my wonderful husband, the Mellow Man, and he decided to give me this sweet Mother’s Day gift:
He also did the transfer and all of the redirects. You should find all of the important content here, and if you can’t seem to find something please, contact me, and I’ll try to figure out what happened. I know that these types of transfers can have a few kinks.
In addition to a cheerful new design by Shiny Magic, colored in my favorite shade of mulberry, I’ve added some galleries to the top of the blog. A lot of people recommended the plugin, Catablog, and I think it’s a really good plugin, but my friend Christina referred me over to this tutorial on the Category Grid View Gallery. The big difference about this particular plugin is that it updates itself by referencing categories. I’m still adding galleries, so it’s not finalized yet. However, I love that I don’t need to keep updating it– if I did, I’m sure it would months behind.
So here we are, my new bloggy home, and I do hope you’ll stay a while. If you are following me on Instagram or Twitter, you’ll still see my updates. My new User Name is My_Mom_MadeThat on both Twitter and Instagram. (As a complete non sequitur, I don’t get most forms of social media, but Instagram rocks! I use it more than Facebook, Twitter and G+ combined.) I do have a new Facebook Fan page, and I’d love to see a few “Likes” out there. I’m going to try to work on a giveaway if I can get to 100…. now what should the giveaway be?
