7 Amazing Peanut Butter Desserts

So last week I shared a recipe for Peanut Butter and Jelly cookies.  They were so yummy, and disappeared in the Monkey’s belly within about 3 days.  AND he’s still begging me to make more.  Rarely have I seem him get so excited about any baked good– he does like straight chocolate, but that’s different.  So I got to thinking– he loves peanut butter, so maybe I should see what other delicious peanut butter desserts are out there.  And let me tell you, the blogosphere is filled with so many delectable and delicious looking desserts.  I started pinning them, and then decided they needed their own board.  And then I thought, I should share the best of the desserts with you.  So here are seven amazing peanut butter desserts that make me drool.

What impresses me most about peanut butter is the versatility of the ingredient in baking.  It seems to be a wonderful additive to cookies, cakes, pies and candy!  For example, in addition to my Peanut Butter Blossoms, and PB&J Cookies, and the traditional Peanut Butter Cookie,  Michelle at Dishes and Dust Bunnieshas this great recipe for Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies.  I already love oatmeal cookies, but somehow the addition of peanut butter  makes the cookie recipe sound yummier and more healthy at the same time!

However, Peanut Butter can be used in more than just cookies.  I found tempting recipes for both bars and cakes.  Dorothy over at Crazy for Crust has a Peanut Butter Cookie Gooey Bar recipe that seems like it is a little bit Chocolate Chip Cookie, Peanut Butter Cookie and Brownie all rolled into one– heavenly!  Look at it, aren’t you drooling?

Over at Recipes, Food & Cooking, Mary Ellen created this Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ooey Gooey Butter Cake recipe using peanut butter and a german chocolate cake mix– it looks like it takes the bar recipe above and combines it with a poke cake to make something completely over-the-top and mouth-watering.

Okay, enough about cakes, how about pies. I was astounded by the number of pies that included peanut butter, but here are two of my favorites.  First, here’s a Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie by Dangerously Delicious with a chocolate crust that I know the Mellow Man would love.  (He adores pie, and Reese’s Peanut Butter cups are his favorites.)

If you’d like to try one without the chocolate, the Baking Chocolatess has a recipe for Amish Peanut Butter Cream Pie.  I am so partial to cream pies, and this one looks so fluffy and airy.  I bet it’ll melt in my mouth.

Okay, but maybe you are looking for candy, rather than pie.  Well, there are a lot of peanut butter candy recipes out there too!  Here’s one for Old Fashioned Peanut Butter fudge by Jen at Cincy Shopper.

And finally, for a a twist on peanut butter fudge that includes the Monkey’s favorite M&M’s, Sally’s Baking Addiction has a recipe for Peanut Butter M&Ms Truffles.  I think that the Monkey would adore these.  He loves peanut butter and is wild about M&Ms!
