Summer is in full swing around here, and my mom life has been trying to find a routine. It takes me a while when there are big changes to my schedule. Everything is a bit chaotic and disorganized, until I find that routine. It really helps that I wake up a bit early to get some time to make a plan for the day and enjoy a few moments of peace and quiet before the kids wake up. In honor of this time, I created a faux hand lettered mug for the Caffeine and Chaos in my mom life. I’m still working on the technique, but I’m sharing the tutorial with you today along with an awesome mom perfect beverage, MAX Indulge by MAXWELL HOUSE, to fill your mug with. It’s a super easy instant coffee drink to make with rich chocholate-y flavor that makes you feel like you are sneaking a treat in the morning.
Materials for Faux Hand Lettered Mug
- Plain White Mug (available at any craft, dollar or big box store)
- Oil-based Paint Pen (available at craft store)
- Masking Tape
Choose a hand lettering tyle font to start with, and create your wording and design. This could be easily done in any word processing or design program. I just like to create a vector and then be able to easily size it up or down. Once I got the design just how I wanted, I printed it out, and cut it to size.
Then I used my pencil to shade the back side of the paper, insuring that it was thoroughly covering all of the sections with text. It should look a lot like a sheet of carbon paper because that is the effect that you are going for.
Next all you have to do is tape the paper to your mug with masking tape and trace firmly over the letters with a pencil. You’ll end up with a tracing of the hand lettering in pencil on the mug.
The photo of the tracing is for an earlier version of the mug that I left sitting on the kitchen table after having a cup of MAX Indulge one morning, and my little Peanut decided to “help me” draw on it. It ended up a little damaged, and looking like this…
It happens, and seemed perfect for my Caffeine and Chaos mug, but I decided to create another one with a slightly different font.
I really like how the project turned out, and it’s perfect for my life right now. It’s also great to serve MAX Indulge, which comes in two yummy flavors right now, Mocha & Salted Caramel, and Mocha & S’mores. It’s already sweetened so it tastes a lot like a decadent cafe drink. I found mine at my local Walmart, but as MAX Indulge is a new drink, you can check this locator to find it at a Walmart near you.
All you need to make MAX Indulge coffee drink is water and the drink mix, but I personally suggest using a milk to give it an extra creamy and foamy flavor. The Mocha & S’mores flavor is a lot like drinking hot chocolate and coffee at the same time! YUM!
So here’s to finding some time early in the morning to find a little calm and enjoying a treat with a tasty coffee drink like MAX Indulge to help you manage the chaos of mom life!
