Upcycled, No Sew Diaper Box for Storage

We have a lot of diaper boxes in our house.  Not as many as before, now that the Monkey only wears pull-ups at night, but we’ve got a lot of Huggies boxes sitting around.  Many are in our basement holding toys and clothes.  Overall, I have found that they are incredible durable and strong boxes, and can be repurposed for many things.  We also have a lot of blankets or “woobies” in our house.  The little boys seem to love all of their quilts, receiving blankets and afghans that they have received since their birth, and I’m running out of places to store them.  That got me to thinking that what I needed to do– make my very own upcycled no sew diaper box to store all  boxof the boys’ woobies.  Now I recently bought a huge box of Huggies at Sam’s Club, which I’m going to tell you about later, but realized that the box wouldn’t fit underneath the Peanut’s Crib.  I decided to cover a slightly smaller Huggies box to create a storage container for the Littles’ woobies.
Cardboard diaper boxes are sturdy and great to upcycle. Here's an easy tutorial to cover your own Huggies Diaper box. It's an easy DIY project and you can line the box and personalize the storage with felt letters. Project was sponsored by Huggies Diapers. [Read more…]

Embroidered Sherlock Quote

I started hearing about Benedict Cumberbatch long before I had heard of Sherlock.  Maybe I should have heard about Sherlock first, but regardless, the show is brilliant.  The humor and dialogue is witty and sharp-edged.  My only complaint is the number of episodes in each season.  I need more than 3 to 4 episodes a year.  (Producers at BBC, do you hear me? Seriously, Downton Abbey had at least 6 a season!)  I can’t be sure of what quote is my favorite, as Sherlock has so many great one-liners, but in the episode Scandal in Belgravia, he tells Irene Adler, “Think.  It’s the new sexy.”  For those of us who are a bit on the geeky side, it’s definitely an appealing quote, so I decided to create a simple embroidered Sherlock quote, as my homage to the series.Do you love the Sherlock series on the BBC? Make this Embroidered Sherlock Quote as a piece of fan art for your very own. A step-by-step tutorial is included to get a gothic, Sherlock quote of your very own using Cricut Design Space.

Christmas Button Wreath

I received craft materials to create my Christmas Button Wreath from Oriental Trading Company,  and I am delighted to be working in partnership with Oriental Trading Company to bring you today’s tutorial!

Christmas is never complete in my house without a wreath, at least in my book.  When I told Mellow Man that the package that arrived on my doorstep from Oriental Trading company contained the materials to create a Christmas Button Wreath, he rolled his eyes.  However, I know that fellow crafters out there share my belief that one can never have too many wreaths at Christmas time.  We’ve used Oriental Trading Company at a number of school parties, and even for Vacation Bible School in the past, but I didn’t realize that they had such an awesome selection of crafting supplies.  When I found a giant bag of Christmas Buttons in the store, I knew that I needed to make a Christmas Button Wreath.

Do you love wreaths like I do? Using ribbon, beads and buttons from Oriental Trading Company I created this lovely Christmas Button Wreath that is a wonderful holiday decoration. Sponsored by Oriental Trading Company

DIY Wool Felt Ball Christmas Tree

I can’t remember the first time I saw wool felt balls, but I do enjoy creating projects with felt, and I’m quite partial to small Christmas trees.  However, wool felt balls are equally fun to create and design with.  Most of the time, I’ve seen them turned into garlands or rugs, but you could also make them into mobiles or hotplates.  Or in this case, a super easy DIY Wool Felt Ball Christmas Tree.  This is a craft that you can make in less than the length of one episode of The Christmas Story or Elf.  It will take a bit longer to dry, but by the next morning, you’ll have your very own Wool Felt Ball Christmas Tree to decorate your mantel or holiday display!

Not sure what to do with your collection of wool felt balls? How about making a simple wool felt ball Christmas tree. You can accomplish it in about an hour, and after it dries overnight, it will look awesome in any Christmas vignette, mantel or display!

13+ Ideas for Upcycled Diaper Boxes

As you may recall, I’m in the middle of potty training the Monkey, and of course, the sweet little Peanut is still in diapers.  That means that we have lots of diaper (and Pull-Ups) boxes in our house.  It’s hard not to, given how many Huggies Little Snugglers that we use in our house each week.  In fact, last week, we bought a large box of Huggies Little Snugglers at Sam’s Club.  It was a huge box, and I really liked the shape, as it was shallower in depth than some of the boxes.  I got to thinking of what I might be able to use this diaper box for, and how useful my Huggies Diaper boxes are.  Do you keep your diaper boxes too?  Well here are a few ideas for how to repurpose them– who knew that there were so many options for upcycled diaper boxes?

Not sure what to do with all of the Huggies diaper boxes you have sitting around your house? Well, here are 11+ ideas collected by My Mom Made That. I don't know which one I'm going to make first!
