Beauty and the Beast Rose Necklace

I’m so excited about sharing this project today because I saw a variant of the Beauty and the Beast Rose necklace on Pinterest, but it was clearly not any easy DIY jewelry project.   However, I daydreamed about ways to make it easier, make it something that I could do, as I’m a crafter, not a professional jeweler.  Then while browsing the beads section at my local Michael’s store lead me to an idea, and sometimes my ideas don’t work.  Luckily this one did, and I was able to come up with a way to make my very own Beauty and the Beast Rose Necklace.  And while the final results aren’t as fancy as those by professional jewelers, I was so pleased by how the final necklace turned out!  This is an easy jewelry craft project to create your very own Beauty and the Beast Rose Necklace that is inspired by the rose in the bell jar from the classic Disney movie!

Spring Craft Supply Giveaway

This week has been crazy busy for me.  We’ve just wrapped up our preschool’s consignment sale.  It never ceases to amaze me how much a focused group of people can accomplish in a week.  However, the arrival of the scale and the start of Lent along with the 40 Bags in 40 Days Challenge by White House, Black Shutters has motivated me to be more mindful of all of the things that are coming into my house.  With 3 boys, there is a lot of stuff that comes into our home, and as a crafter, I add my fair share of “stuff” to our home.

Moana Felt Flower Headband

I shared last week that we just go back from another trip from Walt Disney World. I do love being a mom of boys, but one of the things that I miss out on with only boys is the love of Disney Princesses. It’s just hard for boys to get quite as into Aurora, Cinderella, Elsa and Belle the way I see little girls doing.  And there are so many amazing Disney Princesses now– like Moana, which is now out on DVD (affiliate link)!   Sometimes, even if I don’t have little princesses at home, I’ve got to enjoy the prince magic, so I decided to create a Moana Felt Flower Headband using my Cricut Explore Air and Cricut Design Space.  I made it look a bit like a tropical plumeria flower, rather than an orchid.  (Interestingly, while it’s the flower I thought of from the movie, I’m not sure it grows in Hawaii.)

Make a Moana Felt Flower Headband using freezer paper and your Cricut cutting machine. You can create a plumeria headband for your favorite Moana fan with a few pieces of scrap felt and this tutorial.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Preschoolers

We just got back from Walt Disney World, and I thought I would share how ideal Disney’s Hollywood Studios is for preschoolers and toddlers.  I have to be honest– historically, I would have said that of the 4 parks in Walt Disney World, Hollywood Studios is my least favorite.  It’s always felt more like the action and adventure side of Disney, and less about the magic and wonder.  Between the Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and the emphasis on Star Wars, it’s just seemed like Hollywood Studios was a park that is geared towards the tweens and older.  However, after this last trip to Walt Disney World with my 4-year-old Peanut and 2-year-old Monkey, I can honestly say that after the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the best park for preschoolers!  In case you were planning your own trip, here is how to make most of Disney’s Hollywood Studios for preschoolers (or toddlers!)

Are you planning on heading to Walt Disney World? Here are several tips and tricks to make the most of your trip to Hollywood Studios for Preschoolers and Toddlers!
