Springtime Mailbox Refurbishment

It must be nearly spring!  Houses are selling in our neighborhood quickly, and lots of families are out doing beautification projects.  When I was driving around our neighborhood, I was noticing that there were a lot of pretty mailboxes, and I started thinking that we needed to replace ours.  After pricing them, and realizing the cost, and acknowledging that all my mailbox needed was a little TLC, I decided that a mailbox refurbishment rather than a replacement was in order.  I thought I’d share how I went about refurbishing our mailbox, as it takes only a couple of hours, spaced over a weekend.  With the springtime weather, this is such an easy DIY to spruce up your outdoor home!

Does your mailbox look weathered and untidy? Don't replace it! You can update it inexpensively with paint and vinyl following this mailbox refurbishment to make your house stand out!

My Monkey loves Transformers.  Well, not all the Rescue BotsTransformers, but he’s wild about , which are perfect for little hands.  Even the Peanut enjoys these Rescue Bots.  Well, we’ve got a lot of them, and one day the Monkey decided that he wanted to store them in this large plastic Animal Cracker Container.  And I’m willing to do anything that will encourage a 4- and 2-year-old to organize and pick up.  When he started putting them all into this container, I decided to make it a bit more in style for his cool Rescue Bots by using an image that I downloaded from the internet and uploading it into Cricut Design Space to create the Monkey’s very own Upcycled Transformer Logo Container.

Did you know that you can upload your own images into Cricut Design Space? Using Clipart that you can find online, take a basic plastic jug and turn it into a cool Transformer Logo Storage Container for Rescue Bots using the Cricut Explore line of cutting machines and vinyl. Why I Switched to the Cricut Explore Air

This is a post that is sponsored by Cricut.  I am proud to partner with them and am honored to be using their products.  My opinions and enjoyment of Cricut is 100% my own.  Additionally, This post may contain affiliate links, which won’t cost you extra to purchase but helps support this site.

Over the summer of 2016 I did something pretty radical, at least for me– After spending three years working with my Silhouette Portrait, I switched to the Cricut Explore Air™ machine   I know that some people who knew me were confused about my switch.  Mellow Man, my husband, was confused.  He didn’t get why I had another machine that did something nearly identical.  Given his confusion, and then the Big One asking why I had a new machine next to my desk.  That got me to thinking that maybe others might be interested in why I switched to the Cricut Explore Air.

Are you unsure of which cutting machine to choose? Let me tell you why I switched to using a Cricut Explore Air. I review the things that I love about the machine along with reflections on the Silhouette line of products. {Post sponsored by Cricut.}

Easy DIY Goldfish Snacks Jar

The Monkey loves Goldfish crackers, particularly when he gets home from preschool and needs a little quiet time after a day of playing and learning.  He asks to watch one of “My Shows, not grown-up shows!” and requests Goldfish crackers and a cup of milk.  He also likes to be independent.  That’s very important for him.  We keep most of his straws, cups and dishes at a level that he can reach because it’s very important that he does it “all by myself.”  I made with a clear storage jar and some spare vinyl this quick and easy DIY Goldfish Snacks Jar, so that the Monkey can get his own yummy Goldfish Crackers.

Make this easy, DIY "Goldfish Snacks" Jar to store your children's favorite Goldfish crackers. This fun and cheerful container is a great way to keep the crackers ready for snacking and sharing with your kiddos during your favorite family times. {Sponsored by Pepperidge Farms.}

Upcycled, No Sew Diaper Box for Storage

We have a lot of diaper boxes in our house.  Not as many as before, now that the Monkey only wears pull-ups at night, but we’ve got a lot of Huggies boxes sitting around.  Many are in our basement holding toys and clothes.  Overall, I have found that they are incredible durable and strong boxes, and can be repurposed for many things.  We also have a lot of blankets or “woobies” in our house.  The little boys seem to love all of their quilts, receiving blankets and afghans that they have received since their birth, and I’m running out of places to store them.  That got me to thinking that what I needed to do– make my very own upcycled no sew diaper box to store all  boxof the boys’ woobies.  Now I recently bought a huge box of Huggies at Sam’s Club, which I’m going to tell you about later, but realized that the box wouldn’t fit underneath the Peanut’s Crib.  I decided to cover a slightly smaller Huggies box to create a storage container for the Littles’ woobies.
Cardboard diaper boxes are sturdy and great to upcycle. Here's an easy tutorial to cover your own Huggies Diaper box. It's an easy DIY project and you can line the box and personalize the storage with felt letters. Project was sponsored by Huggies Diapers. [Read more…]
