Are you fan of Star Wars?  Which of the six movies is your favorite?  Would you like to bring The Force back to your breakfast table? I was a little girl when the Star Wars original trilogy had just come out.  In second grade, Ewoks were the stuffed animal to have.  Unfortunately I never got one, but my best friend had two, so I got to snuggle with one when I spent the night at her house.  The best thing about Star Wars now is the ability to share it with my whole family.  It seems to appeal to almost every one, man or woman, young or old!  It is a movie that has continued on to be something that I can share with my Big One (the Littles are a bit too young to fully appreciate the movie).  I remember vividly the excitement in his eyes when he first watched Anakin in the pod races   Thus, when we got some awesome Star Wars cereal designed to bring The Force back to our breakfast table, I couldn’t wait to show it off, and make a few school bag accessories for the Big One.

My Mom Made That: Choose A Side Star Wars Perler Bead Bag Tags and the New General Mills Cereal

I made Perler Bead Bag Tags in both a Darth Vadar and R2-D2 design, so that each morning while eating his Star Wars Breakfast Cereal, the Big One could answer the question of the day: “Which Side of The Force Are You On?”  You can have your kiddos answer the same question by trying this great breakfast cereal, and making these easy bag tags with Perler Beads for both sides of The Force.

I found the pattern for R2-D2 and Darth Vadar during a Pinterest Search.  To make these Star Wars bag tags, all you need need is Perler Beads in the colors of Darth Vadar and R2-D2 (Black, Dark Grey, Grey, Blue, Fluorescent Pink and Ligh Blue), and two clear Perler Beads at the top to hold the jump ring.  You also need two larger jump rings and two lanyard snaps.  You can find all of these supplies at your local craft store.  Once you have attached the large jump rings to the clear Perler Beads at the top of the bag tags, you can connect the lanyard snaps to the jump rings.

The bag tags look great on any kiddo’s back pack and allows your child to choose which side they want to be on each morning before they head off to camp or school.  If your kiddo isn’t sure, they can ponder their options while enjoying their limited edition General Mills cereal.  The Yoda and Darth Vadar boxes are only around for a short time before new characters are released!  If you’d like to try them, feel free to  download a $1 OFF coupon.  Star Wars Cereal is a delicious fruity flavored cereal with marshmallows– the cereal is the same, but the characters on the box is different.

If you or your family wants to choose a side for breakfast, you can also play the board game on the back of the Darth Vadar box, and pick either the Empire or Rebellion side using the Marshmallows “Marbits.”  The Empire choices are the red Lightsaber, the white Stormtrooper, and the pink/red Jedi Fighter.  Then the Rebellion side includes the green Yoda, the blue/white R2-D2 and the blue Lightsaber.  (If you were wondering the cereal pieces are in 3 fun shapes TIE Fighter, X-Wing Starfighter, and Millennium Falcon.  You can also test your Star Wars knowledge with the quiz on the back of the Yoda cereal box!
