It’s the busy time of year again. Have you ever noticed how May and August are chaotic with lots of meetings and events? The poor sweet Peanut, who is the easiest going little guy that I could have imagined, gets toted all over the place. From his brother’s preschool to his brother’s middle school. He goes everywhere with a smile, and generally a better attitude than I. This means that the two of us spend a lot of time in my car– more than the two bigger boys, both of whom now have school and activities. It’s really critical to Be Prepared when leaving the house with a baby. I do this two ways. First, I keep a lot of great supplies in my minivan to make sure that we are prepared. Sometimes we are out and about at the park or mall or grocery store. Second, I keep the essentials in my purse at all time. After some experimentation, I have found that with 3 Huggies Little Movers is the perfect number of diapers to toss in my purse for a full day of errands and extracurriculars.
One place that we like to visit for our baby supplies is Babies “R” Us. Although the Monkey gets a little distracted by all of the fun toys and clothes there, and gets a bad case of the “Gimmes!” Right now they, they are carrying the New Little Movers Diapers in their Diaper section. These diapers have “New Dry Touch” in the corner, and are able to provide 12 hours of leak lock protection.
Right now, Babies “R” Us has a coupon available for you to try out the new Huggies Little Movers.
As I mentioned, I carry 3 Huggies Little Movers diapers in my purse. These diapers fit neatly in the Felt Diaper Wrap. It was a fun and easy project to make, and is adjustable as your little one grows into different sized diapers. The reason I like using this, is it keeps my diapers neat, organized and flat, but is small enough that it is perfect for a busy mommy and baby on the go.
If you’d like to make your own Felt Diaper Wrap, you need just a few supplies. I started with an 18-inch long, cream-colored piece of felt. I then found small pieces of felt in the colors that I wanted to use for my applique. All of the felt I used was at least 50% wool felt (NOT craft felt). I’ve found that felt that has a good portion of wool in it is sturdier and softer. I wrapped the long piece of felt around 3 diapers (the perfect number for the baby on the go) and trimmed it to the correct length. If you are making this for a smaller baby, remember to leave enough room for larger sizes of diapers.
Once I had cut the correct length of felt, I curved the corners, and blanket stitched around the edge of the felt. I decided that I wanted to put an elephant on the wrap, so I searched online until I found the silhouette of an elephant that I liked. It would be easy to do this with any other animal. The best thing about felt is it is extremely easy to piece into a cute appliqué. I cute the shape of the elephant and his ear our with my pattern, and then pinned them to place. Once they were pinned, I blanket stitched around the elephant. As a note, for the outside blanket stitch edge, I used the full 6-strands of the embroidery floss, and for the appliqué I only used two strands of embroidery floss. I then used adhesive, super strong velcro to create a closure for the wrap.
It’s not just that we need a supply of diapers for when we are on the go, these days, the Peanut is on the go. He’s getting busier—with his bouncing and his squirming and his rolling. He’s at that stage where he is thinking about crawling. He throws himself forward when he’s in the sitting position, as if he is trying to get himself onto all fours.
As a mom who has spent a goodly number of years changing diapers, I strongly believe in investing in high quality, premium diapers. They just hold up better. They are better fitting to a baby’s body. Plus, there are fewer leaks to worry about, and now Huggies Little Movers are even better with their New Dry Touch to help improve absorbency. They are perfect for my wiggly Little Mover who is a Peanut on a mission!
Do you use a large Diaper Bag, or just toss a few diapers into your purse? What’s the best way for you to be on the move these days?
