I love looking and daydreaming about my dream kitchen don’t you?  Updating our kitchen is on our eventual DIY list.  Mellow Man and I know that it will happen one day, but until then, looking at pictures of completed kitchens allows me to dream.  And if you’ve ever read or followed FlyLady, as I have done, you’ll know that the sink is at the heart of every kitchen.  In my dream kitchen, I would have a large apron sink with an industrial stainless steel faucet, like they have in all of the Fixer Upper episodes.  (Honestly, I have loved those sinks long before Joanna Gaines was on the air.)  I do already have a stainless steel faucet, it’s not so industrial in style.  I already know how grubby stainless steel can be, so I thought I’d share the perfect Natural Citrus Vinegar Cleaner for your stainless steel faucet.  This Citrus Vinegar Cleaner doesn’t have harsh chemicals and makes your faucets shine!

This is a cleaner that takes a little time and preparation to make.  It’s a lot like my Lemon Extract, in that you need to be patient.  However, if you make enough at once, you’ll have enough until you run out again.  And when you do, you’ll be able to make your faucet shine just like new.  (Here’s an example of my dream faucet by Kohler, called the Sous faucet… don’t you love the styling here, and that scale! Swoon!)

All you need to make this cleaner is citrus peel (zest and pith), white vinegar and time.  I used some old Ball Ideal Jars that I filled with Orange and Lime Peels because that’s what I had in my house at the time; however, you should can use lemons or grapefruit.  In fact, I think the variety of citrus peels adds to the fragrance.

Take your peel and fill a jar with it (I filled two actually!)  Then pour white vinegar over the peel, and let it soak.  And by soak, I mean, let it soak for several weeks.  Remember this is like making an extract.  I believe that I let this batch soak for 4 weeks.

It’s going to take on a citrus smell and color.  Using a strainer, pour everything into a bowl, and you’ll be left with the citrus vinegar.  I used a fine strainer to get rid of any of the pith or meat that may have inadvertently gotten detached from the peel.  I then filled a spray bottle halfway full with the vinegar and then poured it back into the jar. (As an aside, this is also a great way to clean old mason and ideal jars!)  Then fill the rest of the spray bottle with distilled water. My Mom Made That: Homemade Citrus Vinegar Cleaner, Perfect to Clean Stainlessless Faucets, Sponsored by Kohler

Then I added a little citrus essential oils to the spray bottle.  I used 15 drops of  Sweet Orange Essential Oil and 5 drops of Lemon Essential Oil.  Now all you need to do is spray your faucet.  Get a soft rag, spray the Citrus Vinegar Cleaner all over your faucet and watch it shine!

As I mentioned I loved the Kohler Sous Kitchen Faucet that you can get only at Home Depot, definitely one of my favorites.  It had a magnetic docking station– isn’t that cool?  However, another great stainless steel option that is available is the Home Depot is the Trielle Faucet.  It’s got a sleeker modern style, in my opinion.  It’s easy for DIY installation, and the Kohler Trielle Kitchen Faucet has a smooth spray head that’s easy to control.

I am loving both of these faucets for my cooking– they make filling up a large pot a dream!

But if you need another great stainless choice from Home Depot (and aren’t you swooning over that Apron sink), you might want to check out the Kohler Worth Kitchen Faucet.

I think this has a more romantic style, but it also has a magnetic docking station.  It also comes with a 2-function spray head that features stream and sweep: a wide forceful spray and a MasterClean spray face that features flexible nozzles to make it easy to clean.

Whatever stainless steel faucet you choice at Home Depot (and these three Kohler faucets are sold only at Home Depot, my favorite DIY store), I can assure you that this natural Citrus Vinegar Cleaner will make your faucets shine.
